Another of my Coat of Arms drawings that hits close to home. This piece was commissioned by My aunt who lives out in Arizona, hence the fertile desert background of the overall composition. On the left of the background you will see the “A” mountain in Tucson for the University of Arizona where my uncle attended. The top portion of the shield itself would usually have two facing heraldic lions and I have supplanted one with “Kashube” emblem symbolizing our polish family history and where that lineage hails from. The middle section is filled horizontally with some Native American iconography and the colors again representing the University of Arizona. At the bottom of the composition you will see two dancing Hopi Indian kachina dolls. My grandfather used to make these himself and they have been in each home of my family well before my lifetime. And once again, near the right center you can find a cardinal, representing himself.
